End of Eden

End of Eden     Created in photoshop   ©Jean Stimmell 2011

Sir Martin Rees, an English astronomer, says the odds of human extinction in the next century are 50 percent.  Nick Bostrom, an Oxford philosopher, says  the next hundred years are critical for humanity.  He puts the odds of humans surviving that long at 25%.*

How can we be so oblivious to our own demise???

Why are we still passively slouched in the day room of the insane asylum, dutifully taking our meds like the patients in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest? Who are we waiting for to throw a chair through the window to shatter our trance of powerlessness and impotency?

Who will it be to step up for sanity and give our great-grandchildren a fighting chance to be born and continue our name–and the human race?

If not each of us standing up together now, acting as one, than who?

Who will it be?
