The Vietnam generation, in contrast, is a political term, a rallying cry against mindless consumerism, militarism, the rape of the environment, and against oppression based on gender, race, or class.
Power to the People!psychos capeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02263194606464893181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2437987686174727459.post-7479918036808783622015-03-06T18:55:15.874-05:002015-03-06T18:55:15.874-05:00Hey Jean: How perspicacious of you. They were talking about our generation and how we identify with it, Leigh, in her article about Susan Lirakis's show in the monitor refers to us as the Vietnam generation. Barb identifies with the baby boomer. I find that dichotomy interesting. Both Barb and her husband went to Stanford University in the late sixties. Certainly there had to be an anti-war presence on campus. But maybe it had to be a little closer to home, I mean actually going there or waiting for a loved one to return from the war, before one identifies oneself as Vietnam generation vs baby boomer generation. That conflict certainly steered our journey down life's meandering path.
We feel so honored to be mentioned in your blog and are both looking forward to your very own photographic exhibit at the library. with love Neilneil englishnoreply@blogger.com
